About Me
Hello,
Thank you for your interest. I am a college graduate that has worked multiple customer service jobs for the past seven years. Including as an interim employee cleaner for a personal cleaning business since 2012. I am very hands-on and have an eye for details. I have excellent organizational skills, time management abilities, and the experience to establish priorities with multiple tasks. As an employee working with customers, I have the utmost respect and discretion towards client's personal information and lifestyle.
I have heard many people express interest within my community for the opportunity to receive help/guidance with their technology. I am confident with basic skills typically sought out and am able to find the required information needed for other things that I may not immediately have knowledge of myself. During these times, technological knowledge has grown in popularity, if not become required, for basic interactions such as work, classes, or simply visiting with friends and family. Unfortunately, this has left some behind that did not have the ability to adapt.
Why start Ohana Assistance Services?
I always enjoyed the smaller tasks of tending to a home. I believe it is important for one's mental and emotional state to live in an environment they feel confident, safe, and comfortable in. Ohana is a Hawaiian word which refers to a person’s extended family, which can include friends and other important social groups. In our current society, more often than most would like, we have become secluded and isolated from our immediate group that can offer these kinds of hands-on support. Ohana Assistance is meant to be those helping hands that support in areas some take for granted being able to do themselves. It is designed to help families with just a little too much on their plate or for senior citizens still living on their own but needing some support for things such as more physical tasks. This is not assisted living care, simply a helping hand from someone that will treat you as part of the family.
How do services work?
Each inquiry will be offered a free assessment to decide if the job is a good match for both me and my client. This is a personally run business, potential clients will be notified of the reason and not be brought on if they are deemed not a good match. Payment is based by the hour, an additional amount may be proposed due to travel distance. All supplies or tools needed for tasks must be supplied by the client or there will be an additional charge for me to provide them. These will be discussed and approved by the client prior to being charged. You can find a list of available services offered on our site. Tasks not on that list will be considered on a case-by-case basis upon inquiry.
Tasks not available are:
Childcare without a parent/guardian present
Any cat care, due to allergies (e.g. anything necessitating the handling of a cat, cleaning an area with noticeable cat hair present, litter boxes...)
Any direct assistance taking medication (e.g. shots, insulin, eye drops...)
Direct assistance with personal care/hygiene
Detailed cleaning or strenuous outdoor tasks
COVID-19 Policies
Another reason Ohana Assistance came to be was out of compassion for those at risk or uncomfortable to be exposed during the pandemic. I wanted to offer assistance to people who were not able to reach out for the necessary help themselves. This allows those wishing to limit their contact get deliveries of items needed that are not available online, are needed in a more conveniently timed matter, or gives opportunities to those who do not have the ability to shop online at all.
If the client is not comfortable allowing me into the house, items will be placed at an agreed-upon spot for the client to take. If the client is comfortable having me in the house or I am doing tasks within the house, I will be masked the whole visit. The person(s) inside the home may choose if they would be more comfortable wearing a mask when in the same room I am working in.
I will connect with the client prior to arriving for an update regarding their current health and informing them of any concerns of exposure on my part before entering the home. Social distancing will also be maintained to the best of my ability during the visit.
Any concerns on behalf of the client will be respected to the best of my abilities and the satisfaction of the client. If a mutual agreement can not be established for the comfort of both myself and the client, the client will be dropped to keep comfort and safety in mind for both parties.
